Welcome to Lineville Intermediate School, where all of the fifth and sixth graders from our five elementary schools in the Howard - Suamico School District join together as one.  We pride ourselves on making our school feel like a community. Students at Lineville are grouped in Houses (teams of teachers) where they have all of their academic classes. Each house has its own name and identity, providing a sense of belonging and a smaller school environment.

Our mission at Lineville is to work together with families and community to ensure that our students have the knowledge and skills to succeed in a changing world. At Lineville, we focus on the whole student, including academic progress, character building, developing social skills and helping students make a smooth transition from elementary to middle school.

Academic Progress
Lineville has established high academic standards for our students with a strong focus on literacy (reading and writing), mathematics and 21st century skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving. Our curriculum also offers students a variety of applied arts classes, which include physical education/health, art, technology applications, and world languages including French, Spanish and German. Students choose a music option from band, vocal music or orchestra. Co-curricular opportunities in several sports, forensics, peer leaders, and Battle of the Books are also available to our students.

Character Building and the Development of Social Skills
Character education is a high priority at Lineville. We are a PBIS school. PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports. PBIS focuses on teaching expectations and offering positive reinforcement to students when those expectations are met. Positive reinforcement can be in the form of rewards or praise. While you continue to teach your child about character at home, we will work with you to reinforce those values here at school and in each classroom. Together, we will help students learn to value differences, set goals, solve problems, and make decisions as they work together creatively and develop a sense of "community" within their classrooms and the school environment.

Transition
While at Lineville, students are given both a greater sense of responsibility for themselves and the support they need to flourish. There are some things at Lineville that will be new to our students, such as Houses, lockers and greater academic expectations. We understand that most kids are ready for more responsibility and wish to be treated as young, capable adults. We also know that they still need a lot of support and encouragement and that not all students are ready at the same time. The staff here works very hard to help students take on these challenges while giving them the support they need to be successful – both while they are here and when they move on.

Thank you for visiting our website and allowing me to share a little about our dynamic and high performing school. As the principal of Lineville Intermediate School I am very excited about the academic and social opportunities we are able to provide for our fifth and sixth grade students. Please contact me directly by phone or email if you would like to learn more about our school and its programs.

Sincerely,
